Light and Water Show

We heard about a light and water show at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel,
so we decided to check it out.

At the beginning, it looked like a
mini-version of the Bellagio light and water show in Las Vegas.

But then it kept surprising us with special effects, like projecting
video onto walls of water.

They had blazing flames, thousands of tiny bubbles, and huge fog machines!
(They don't do things small in Asia.)

Exploring Singapore

We have been spending a lot of time exploring our host country.
At the Marina for National Day.

These silhouettes are from the Lido movie theater lobby.
Can you guess what characters they are?

A restaurant with MY initials!

We hope this is the worst Crime Alert we'll see.

We live about 300 steps from this mall and have eaten here several times.
If we get some visitors, we're taking them to a great dumpling and noodle restaurant inside!

This is the dock at the Marina Bay Sands complex
with a great view of the cool skyline.

If we wear brown to this Charlie Brown's Cafe on Wednesdays,
we get an extra scoop of ice cream!

Shopping at FairPrice.
Have you ever seen so many varieties of tuna?

In Los Angeles, we spell "chili" with one "l."

Also, people do not "exit" the train or bus here,
they "alight."

Selamat Datang!*

Besides getting acquainted with our new school, our priority has been to find a place to live.  After viewing several properties, we found a place and moved in on Saturday, August 20th.

Please enjoy these photos from the last few weeks of our new host country:

Beautiful, cloudy blue skies along the River Walk.

Delicious beef kway teow this was.

Great sunsets every night!

The Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Fireworks on National Day at the marina.

The lobby of the Lido movie theatre.

Singapore turned 46 on August 9th!
Our hotel's pool, as viewed from our room.
Now it's time for a Malay language lesson.
